FAQs

Is Play Locals free to use?

Yes - Play Locals is completely free to sign up and use. Create your profile, browse local players, and send play requests at no cost.

Can you explain the five levels to help me choose?

'Beginner' - players getting started with tennis and may be looking to pick up a racket for the first time or have started to play and develop their game.

'Improver' - has learned the basic strokes and rules, working on consistency, control and starting to hold a rally.

'Intermediate' - players who can rally and serve but perhaps have had only a small amount of competitive experience or are working on their consistency and ways to win points.

'Upper Intermediate' - players who compete regularly and have developed a reliable serve and consistent groundstrokes. They can construct points using strategy and are comfortable in match situations.

'Advanced' - players with strong technical ability across all areas of the game. They play competitive tennis regularly, can execute attacking play under pressure and have the defensive skills to recover difficult situations and turn points around.

Remember this is just a guide and you can always adjust your level in your profile to get a better fit for your game!

How does sending a play request work?

When you find a player you'd like to play, you can send them a request with a message and at this point, you have the option to request their contact number.

They'll get a notification with your message and your request for their contact number (if you've opted to do this). It's then on them to accept and respond. If they do, you both are then connected and can easily arrange your session.

Is my phone number shared with other players?

Your mobile number is only ever shared when both players agree to swap their numbers.

This can be requested when you first contact a player or when you are messaging each other on our platform.

If you don't ask to swap or you don't accept a swap, your number won't be shared.

Do I record my scores anywhere?

We wanted Play Locals to be focussed on meeting people locally to play with and then you both decide whether it's just a casual friendly session or a competitive match.

We didn't want scores to be the focus and therefore we don't produce tables or results against your profile, so you can just go out and enjoy some tennis with locals in your area.
